David Martinez is a producer and cinematographer from Puerto Rico. Since completing the Cinematography Intensive program at Maine Media Workshops in 2014, David has been traveling the world working as a cinematographer and colorist to tell stories of social impact. His immersion in film productions, both in the camera department as well as the post-production department, has given him a great perspective on the relationship between the creative and technical aspects of visual storytelling.
As a media producer, his clients include The New York Times, United Nations, Universal Music, Warner Music, McKinsey & Company, and Volvo. David has been teaching workshops at Maine Media since 2016. In 2022 David offered a series of lighting workshops for Pixar Animation Studios.
David believes in the idea of Docendo Discimus. He enjoys teaching and has taught more than 30 workshops at Maine Media on topics ranging from camera, lighting, color grading, and cinematography theory. He has been working as the Film Program Manager at the workshops since 2018 designing curriculums and syllabi for both in-person and online workshops. His role at the school has given him an opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of industry professionals across many areas of filmmaking and film production.
